Massage Therapy

My style is rhythmic and intuitive. Depending on your needs, I use strong, slow and focused techniques combined with effleurage, holistic pulsing, reflexology, stretching, tapotement and pressure point release. I aim to be very aware of how your body is aligned and what your body is 'saying'. I have a hands-on, practical and nurturing approach. My goal is to listen and support you in an unjudgemental and safe space. I am not here to 'fix' you, but to facilitate your own body's healing.

Holistic Pulsing

Holistic Pulsing is a holistic movement-based system with roots in the Structural Integration therapies eg. Alexander Technique, Feldenkrais, Tragerwork, Bowen Technique, Bioenergetics, Reich, Turchin, Hellerwork, and Rolfing. Tovi Browning, a cranial osteopath, drew on these traditional healing techniques and developed Holistic Pulsing which she writes about in her book Gentle Miracles. Its founding modalities are taken from the idea that emotional tension, physical trauma and other wounding causes body-mind dysfunctions that can be retained at a musculo-skeletal level, and perhaps even a cellular level, for a very long time. These may manifest as: postural problems, motor problems, head and neck issues, anxiety and other nervous presentations, "internal" problems like digestive, circulatory, excretory, reproductive, respiratory or skin disorders.

The body is 75% water. The rhythmic action of pulsing or wave-like movements helps fluid motility around the body, clearing stagnant areas and circulating essential compounds to every cell. This deep relaxation- often compared to floating or being rocked on water- and sense of nurturing, allows awareness of blockages or holding patterns in the body and signals to the brain that it is free to respond in its own natural way and pace.

The body is able to receive more oxygen, fascia becomes softer and more adaptable, breathing deepens. Treatment can be given fully clothed, seated or combined with massage. Very effective for central nervous system disorders such as multiple sclerosis & Parkinson's.
